Iaido Study Group

Aikido School of Athens is now sponsoring a free of charge, Musoshinden Ryu Iaido study group. The group meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 am at the Winder location. Group members share in the practice of traditional swordsmanship in a structured atmosphere, guided by Sensei Theron Bennett. Sensei Bennett is a student of Sensei Mark Pickens, 6th Dan, Renshi of the Musoshinden Ryu. Sensei Pickens visits the dojo periodically to conduct training. The study group is free of charge however donations to assist in reimbursing the dojo overhead are welcomed. To those who are new to the practice of swordsmanship the study group provides a unique opportunity for proper instruction in a guided format emphasizing individualized progress on the physical, technical and mental levels. Iaido emphasizes precise economy of movement, lower body strength, breathing, strong mental focus, enhanced physical awareness and a unique look at the mental origin of physical actions.
